Understanding Insurance
All UAE rentals include basic Collision Damage Waiver (CDW). This covers vehicle damage in accidents but comes with an excess (deductible) of AED 1,500–3,000. For full peace of mind, upgrade to comprehensive coverage — it reduces your excess to zero and covers tires, windshield, and underbody.
Driving in the UAE
UAE roads are modern and well-maintained. Speed limits range from 60 km/h in cities to 140 km/h on some highways. Speed cameras are everywhere — use cruise control on highways to avoid fines.
Toll Systems
Dubai (Salik): 8 toll gates, AED 4 each. Automatically charged to the rental vehicle.
